Day 1: Airport / Sindia Start of our services: a driver-guide will be waiting for you at the airport. Transfer to your hotel in Sindia (a few minutes from the airport). Overnight at the hotel. Day 2: Sindia / Joal-Fadiouth / Palmarin Breakfast, then depart for the visit to Joal-Fadiouth. The narrow paths covered with shells will charm you, and the small statues of saints in every corner of the village reflect the religious devotion of its inhabitants. The population is predominantly Catholic, and the mixed cemetery confirms the harmonious coexistence within the different communities. Lunch in the village of Joal. Next stop: the Palmarin region, a very pleasant drive dotted with baobabs, rônier palms, and mango trees. The endless lagoons are playgrounds for thousands of birds. You will pass through various traditional Sérère villages. Dinner and overnight at Palmarin Ecolodge or a similar accommodation. Day 3: Palmarin / Toubakouta (Pirogue Crossing) Breakfast, then embark on a traditional pirogue from the small port of Diakhanor towards Toubakouta. You will pass by Falia Island, Sangomar, Pointe Jackson… The crossing through the bolongs is a unique experience that we highly recommend. Picnic lunch, then continue towards Pointe de Sangomar. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Toubakouta. Day 4: Toubakouta / Missirah / Sokone Breakfast, then visit Missirah, its fishing dock, and its millenary baobab. Continue to the village of Sokone, where you will be settled at the Fadidi Niombato camp, where community-based tourism and nature preservation are a major focus. Lunch at the village. Dinner and overnight at the camp. Day 5: Sokone / Djilor Breakfast, then continue to the village of Djilor, a charming village in the heart of Fatick, surrounded by rônier forests, orchards, and vegetable fields. Experience daily life with the locals and enjoy traditional Sérère dishes from the region (full board). Overnight with a local family. Day 6: Djilor Breakfast, then visit the house of former president Léopold Sédar Senghor, and discover the products made by local women from regional resources. (Full board). Second overnight stay with the local family. Day 7: Djilor / Dakar / Gorée Breakfast, then return to Dakar and take the ferry for a 25-minute crossing to Gorée Island. You will be settled in a charming guesthouse on the island, and the guide will take you on a tour of the island. Local lunch. Discover a place full of history and sorrow. The museum carefully preserves the remnants of this painful period, and the House of Slaves, the main witness of the slave trade, will open its doors to you. Both beautiful and melancholic, walking through the colorful streets will be a memorable part of your stay. Dinner and overnight at a hotel on the island. Day 8: Gorée / Dakar / Airport Breakfast and free morning (the island visit can be done in the morning). Lunch on the island. Transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule.
